Lincoln Ventures has created a student-housing concept so nice, they're building it twice.
The development company announced April 17 that is has started construction on Ruckus 2.0, a seven-story mid-rise tower with 90,000 square feet in the West Campus neighborhood near the University of Texas at Austin. It should be open in time for the fall 2019 semester.
An Austin development company is entering the next phase of construction on a student housing project that incorporates new building technology.
Johnson Trube & Associates LLC hired JE Dunn Construction to build "The Corner" utilizing the Prescient framing system. Prescient is a Denver-based building company that integrates software, engineering and pre-manufactured metal framing.
Pearlstone Partners is going vertical with a 33-story luxury condo high-rise near Rainey Street, but elsewhere in the city it hopes to tap into a different set of buyers with a new 68-unit condo project across from the Salty Sow restaurant in East Austin.
The 58,000 square-foot development, called EastGate Condos, is likely the first condominium project in a fast-changing section of Manor Road — where several new trendy bars and restaurants have cropped up.
An Austin-based developer is looking to make an even bigger Ruckus in West Campus.
Lincoln Ventures, the company behind The Ruckus, says the year-old student housing project has been such a success that it’s planning a companion property, The Ruckus 2.0.
Construction started this month and work is expected to be done in time for the fall 2019 semester at the University of Texas.
The Ruckus 2.0, at 2401 Rio Grande St., will rise seven stories, with 67 units with a total of 239 beds, Lincoln Ventures said.
"My vision for The Ruckus is to be disruptive and trend-setting in the student housing industry," said David Kanne, president of Lincoln Ventures.
The project, which is only 45 units with 160 beds, is being designed by Mark Hart Architecture in association with Wuest Group engineering. Mark Hart Architecture and Wuest Group also are the local designers behind two other student housing projects being developed by Johnson Trube & Associates ( see one here and the other here), another Austin-based real estate company that wants to get in on the student housing action.
Austin, Texas — Lincoln Ventures has broken ground on The Ruckus 2.0, a 239-bed student housing community located two blocks from the University of Texas in Austin.
The seven-story, 90,000-square-foot community will offer fully furnished units. Shared amenities will include a 7th floor sky gym and terrace, a cyber café, state-of-the-art study lounges and a 24/7 package concierge. The development is set for delivery in fall 2019. Partners on the project include Mark Hart Architecture, Wuest Group Engineering & Design and Motivado Group.
